Rapidez v5

After 10 months of development we shipped Rapidez v5 🚀 this release includes mostly some structural things behind the scenes in how we get data from Magento and some dependency upgrades. We also added some features users have already implemented in various ways in some projects, now all packed within the Rapidez Core!

No more flat table dependencies

When we started with Rapidez in 2020 the easiest way to get product information was to use the flat tables from Magento. Just one big table per store with all the product information from the EAV structure indexed in it. But there are some drawbacks of using it; the most obvious one: indexing. Magento handles that for you but sometimes it gets out of sync and there are some other issues with it on the Magento side; that's why Magento doesn't recommend using it anymore.

Another thing we faced was that not all the values are there, so we still had to join some tables which sometimes did result in a "too many joins" error. A workaround for that was to mark more attributes as "Used in Product Listing" but with that the flat tables could get too big. For that we created a Magento module to be more efficient with the column sizes: magento2-optimizeflattable... see the old Rapidez v4 docs about the flat tables. Too many issues, time for a change with this release!

Rapidez does not require any flat table settings to be enabled anymore! 🚀

Vue 3 and Tailwind 4

Now you can use the latest Vue 3 features and everything new in Tailwind 4 🥳

Customer group and tier pricing

With v5 and customer group pricing configured the customer prices now show up! And if you've configured tier pricing we'll display them on the product page:

Other v5 changes

Product media video support, with Vimeo or YouTube
Cache tags, so you can selectively clear caches
